Our Tikanga

We treasure our unique indigenous Māori people and culture.

We’re committed to building our Mātauranga (knowledge), respecting and preserving te Taiao (our natural world), and working in partnership with our tangata (the people).

We strive to weave whakaaro Māori (Māori thinking) into the way we work and the way we build, operate and maintain infrastructure in the communities and as we strengthen our own Te Reo and Tikanga capability at HEB.

Together, we build a richer and more diverse environment for our people and our communities as we value all cultures. With the foundation of the Kōkihi rōpū we have established “Tikanga Our Way”, a HEB resource providing knowledge to connect with Ao Māori. We have embraced Matariki, and we are also seeing committed uptake in Te Reo learning. This is only the beginning of professional and personal development within Te Ao Māori.
